Getting On

I am definitely getting old and getting on years. I have endured an episode of a "Thyroid Storm". I think this happens when the thyroid increases its hormonal output beyond normal. the result is a decrease in weight and dexterity. I have lost about 25 to 30 pounds of weight in three months. I now weigh about 165 lbs. Almost a year ago and several months I had weighed nearly 180 lbs. Since then I have tried to gain back some of it by eating extra protein rich food . Lots of chicken, mostly made at Hooters. I think I know what triggered the event , I had a potent shot of a liqueur , coffee flavoured , labeled from Starbucks. Of course I had some drinks before this .. My usual drink of chioce was grey goose vodka and orange juice. Methinks that my system went into overdrive and that was what started it all.

New Book Explains How Evolution Really Works, Rebuts Intelligent Design

New Book Explains How Evolution Really Works, Rebuts Intelligent Design

In this article is some ground breaking news concerning evolution and intelligent design.
excerpt:
California–Berkeley address a key problem in evolutionary theory that has puzzled scientists from Darwin on and which is now under intense scrutiny by proponents of intelligent design: where do the big jumps come from in evolution?
Kirschner, HMS professor and chair of the Dept. of Systems Biology, and Gerhart show that newly discovered molecular properties of organisms facilitate evolution.

The origin of novelty, the development of new arrangements of interlocking parts that some call "irreducibly complex," can only be understood in the light of the last 20 years of research in cell biology and development.

We now know that the 'parts' that make up a living organism are very unlike the rigid parts designed for machines. Instead, they can flexibly connect and re-connect, using the same pieces over and over to make new functions.

For example, one might think that a mutation that makes the neck of a giraffe longer would have to be accompanied by several other mutations, one that expands the length of the muscles of the neck, another that makes the blood vessels longer, and so on. But instead, the muscles grow to fit the length of the bone and the blood vessels grow until all the muscles have a sufficient supply of oxygen. Apparently very complex adaptations can therefore be achieved with few, simple mutations.

I took some Fall leaves and decided to scan them. Its sorta abstract compositon ,I think.
Hopefully I will get more to do for this fall coming up..

In The Beginning

In this segment I will discuss the contraversy between Evolution and creationism and Intelligent design.
First of all, in the beginning there were no one ,not even an entity that could forsee the way the world has turned out the way it is now. As we look at ever more present evidence , only the nearsited can only comprehend creationism. going back further in time, by viewing archeological and geological instances can one not only see but grasp the enormity of simplicity in action.
I took this picture from off the side of a road nearby where I live. It was in the early spring of this year.

University of Calif. Sued Over Creationism - Yahoo! News

Apparently Religious groups out there feel threatened by curriculum of intelligent learning.
Methinks someone should bring up a lawsuit against these guys for not making a substantial
environment for religious guidance, instead of feeling inadequite to higher learning.

Hooties Goylz

For the week of May9th to may 14th, I have been enjoying the opening of a new "Hooters" just up the road from where I live. The opening was great, with Lunch on monday ,wednesday, thursday, and friday. I did not go at night, coz the lines were long. The waiting time ,it appeared to me could have been an hour or so. Across the way ,some 200 feet away, is the Harvard brew house. Which ,by the way, is a dual liquor license restaurant. Otherwise the Hooters establishment is just beer(draft, bottle)and Wine. It appears ,the competition hasn't harmed either ,even if its a new eating place opening.
